'Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But, for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.'

Level 2 CPLD is a really good way of gaining the introductory skills and knowledge that you need to work in the childcare sector, or any career which requires an understanding of children’s learning and development. It gives you the opportunity to do some work experience to gain practical knowledge and attributes which are essential for the Level 3 course. They key difference with this course is that it is flexible enough to allow you to resit your Maths and English GCSEs alongside it, so if you just missed getting your 4s and want a career in childcare, this is the perfect option for you.
-
Of course. 100 hours is the recommended amount of work experience for level 2 CPLD. You will complete your work experience in each age range, 0-2, 3-5, 5-8. You will gain knowledge and experience of each age range and how children develop at each stage. Through observation, planning and facilitating activities you will become experienced in assessing children's development and using your professional judgement, plan their next steps. You can carry out your work experience in any setting that is OFSTED registered and has an inspection rating of a good or outstanding and works with children under the age of 8.
