P16 FAQs

  • Walton High will allocate places at each campus. You will be informed of your allocation in your offer letter. Campus allocation is subject to where courses are based. We aim to keep internal students at their current campus if this is possible.

  • A full time programme is the equivalent of 3 A Levels. If you are pursuing a vocational pathway you can take either a Diploma and an Extended Certificate, an Extended Diploma or 3 Extended Certificates.

    You are welcome to add a 1 year course to your programme and study the equivalent of 3.5 A Levels. If you wish to take the equivalent of 4 A Levels you will need to discuss this at your Information, Advice and Guidance meeting.

  • This varies with each of our courses; some require you to have studied them previously and some allow you to enroll without having studied them before. Course specific requirements are listed in Part 1 of our prospectus.

  • We ask all our students to wear smart clothing to school. A dress code is available on our website.

  • For an A Level programme we ask for you to have 5 GCSEs graded 9-5 (including English and Maths). Course specific requirements are listed in Part 1 of our prospectus

  • For the vocational pathway we ask for you to have 6 GCSEs graded 9-4 (preferably including English and Maths). Course specific requirements are listed in Part 1 of our prospectus.

  • Please contact us to let us know your preferred combination of courses. Feedback is important and allows us to look at whether changes to our option blocks are possible.

  • There is no such thing as a free session. You will have study sessions built into your timetables to allow you to complete independent study tasks. It is very important to get into the habit of using these sessions productively so that you stay on top of your workload.

  • Yes. You can still apply after this point. We set this deadline to inform our timetabling for 2024. It is best to apply as early as you can to avoid disappointment, but we will consider your application right up until enrolment in August 2024.
