  • No, you don’t need to have a prior knowledge of Media to take this course, just a keen interest in the study of Media and its impact on the world around us!

  • Media Studies at A Level is a theory-based course, which explores and analyses the choices made by media producers, as well as the ways in which media consumption impacts society. In these ways, it differs fairly substantially from the more creative-based Creative Media course.

  • Yes, the NEA component of the course requires you to conceive, produce and evaluate your own media product, such as a video game, television show, or website. This is worth 30% of your overall grade.

  • Media Studies pairs well with other humanities based subjects such as English Language, Geography, Sociology, and English Literature.
