‘Psychology is my favourite subject. I love learning about human behaviour and memory, it gives me a deeper understanding of society and why people behave the way they do. I now really want to pursue it in the future.’

‘Our memories are reconstructive. It’s a little like a Wikipedia page – you can change it, but so can other people.’

 FAQs

  • Yes, every year we have a mix of students who have and haven’t studied Psychology so if you haven’t you won’t be alone.

  • Psychologists look at human behaviour and try to be as scientific as possible. This can mean that they use statistics to analyse their findings so we will need to interpret this as well as carrying out our own practicals where we do our own calculations. Roughly 10% of the examined content for the course will be based on mathematical skills.

  • Our A Level programme does not include a crime topic, though we study aggression in the biological topic and the foundation of theories that we look at have been used to explain criminal activity.

  • There will be three exams at the end of the two years. The exams include short-answer questions and essay based questions.
